Our most recent Charlottesville Gesture is perhaps one of our favorite examples of what it means when we say “Making people happy is what we do best.” With most of our Gestures, we’ve made people happy by donating new furniture to organizations that had been getting by with used for most of their existence. Obviously furniture is something we’re well equipped to donate, but when our Charlottesville store reached out to the Barrett Early Learning Center and heard that furniture wasn’t their greatest need, it gave us an opportunity to show that we’re serious about making people happy in whatever way we can.

Located in a historic home, the Barrett Early Learning Center is the oldest daycare in the state of Virginia and has been serving our community for 75 years. After celebrating our 100th anniversary this year, we fully appreciate what that level of commitment means. They offer low- and no-cost childcare to area families, which allows the parents to provide for their families in a more productive way. “Some of our parents are able to go back to school or go make a living to take care of their children,” said Delorise Scott, lead teacher and assistant director at Barrett.
